Food help...this is major! Wat should i do?

My school is having a pot luck in a few weeks and im in the filipino club. I want to make two dishes; one main course or appetizer dish and one dessert one....Does anyone know any good, popular dishes i can make? I dnt want anything that is common like lumpia, but i want something that is unique but reallly good....Please helppp FLIPSS
